I ran to meet the FedEx driver . . . (pant, pant) the playoff tickets were here! “Yahoo”, Presley said while quietly growling at the FedEx diver. He knew if his dad was happy he should be happy and it might mean some cheese for him.
The game yesterday in which we clinched to American League Western Division was great. We knew in the third inning Texas had lost. They didn’t update the scoreboard until after the inning but with 35,000 fans of which probably 30,000 had smart phones and were checking the Texas – Kansas City score the secret was hard to keep. The buzz, buzz, murmur, murmur, rose to cheers and applause. The teams on the field had to know what had happened. At the end of the 3rd, the scoreboard updated and everyone went crazy. Kudos to KC who finished Texas off in real style with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 11th.
Thank goodness the team was still playing baseball as half the fans were celebrating and the other half were in line to by Division Champ t-shirts and hats which by-the-way in the typical A’s back-office planning they quickly ran out of t-shirts. “Ahhh, let me see. 35,000 true fans at the game. And we most likely will win. OK, I ‘ll order 5,000 t-shirts.”
Games left to play in the regular season just 6. First playoff game, October 4. Go A’s!
