And would you believe into 2016?
The White House Statement said the specific trajectory of the 2016 U.S. troop draw down will be established later in 2015 to enable the U.S. troop consolidation to a Kabul-based embassy presence by the end of 2016.”
U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry, a Republican who leads the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, said the decision announced on Tuesday was “appropriate.”
“Iraq has shown us the consequences of leaving a fragile ally too early,” he said in a statement. “The bottom line is that our own security is at stake.”
What Mac needs to realize is it doesn’t matter how long we stay there. When we leave “caca” will hit the fan. That is what leaving Iraq showed us and if anyone was surprised by that then their head must have been in a very dark place.
We had from March 20, 2003 to 2011, 9 years and apparently we left to early. What we did was diddle with our fiddle denying any thoughts that Iraq would fall right back to the old ways which it had started while we were still there!
We’ve been in Afghanistan since October 7, 2001. How many years will have finally gone by when it won’t be too early to leave. How many more US warriors will be sacrificed because it is too early to leave? Of course it is “officially” over. We had a big party, congratulated ourselves, awarded medals and slaps on the back then got on airplane leaving behind 10,000 troops. Wonder if they know the war is over?
